Join Historic Buildings & Places for an exclusive guided tour of the Grade II*-listed Crystal Palace Subway, a stunning example of Victorian design and engineering. Built in 1865 to welcome first-class rail passengers to the Crystal Palace, the subway features breathtaking groined arches, coloured brickwork, and elegant iron-and-glass roofing.

Freshly restored in 2024, this architectural treasure has been brought back to life for its 160th anniversary in 2025. Learn about its historic construction, social significance, and the ambitious restoration project that secured its future.

Access Information:

Please note there is currently no step-free access to the Subway and access is via two flights of stairs with handrails on either side.

The Subway has no public toilets or seating. The nearest facilities can be found at the Concert Platform or on the Grand Centre Walk near Life café, both approximately a 10-15 minute walk from the Subway.
