Today saw the launch of heritage coalition the Historic Environment Forum’s Heritage Responds report, which highlights the positive contribution of the sector to tackling the challenges of climate change.
The Forum, of which we are a part of, brings together the expertise of 26 of the county’s leading heritage organisations ahead of the COP26 in Glasgow to show how the sector is making major contribution to action the response to the climate crisis.
Heritage Responds marks the culmination of months of work by the collective to bring together examples of leading projects and research being delivered sector-wide to introduce sustainable solutions in the historic environment, from creative approaches to adaption, harnessing ground-breaking technologies, taking a retrofit-first approach, and reducing carbon emissions through reuse and retention.
With our goal to place sustainability at the heart of all our work, we are proud to have been involved in the efforts of the Forum, and we look forward to continuing to share its lessons and good practice as we continue to champion the benefits of heritage and sustainable re-use and adaption.
The report is available on the Historic Environment Forum’s website here, along with the associated story map.
