Tour of the Lumley Chapel and Whitehall Historic House, Cheam

  • 04 July 2024
  • Lumley Chapel, Church Rd, Cheam, Sutton SM3 8QH
  • 11:00 - 14:00

Join our team in Cheam on Thursday 4th July 2024 at 11am and visit both Lumley Chapel and Whitehall Historic House.

Come along for a private tour of Lumley Chapel. This small but remarkable medieval chapel, home to the stunning alabaster Lumley Monuments, marks the burial place of 16th century aristocrat John Lumley and his two wives. The Chapel is currently under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust, who will be leading our tour.

Our tour of the chapel will be from 11am – 12pm.*

We will then head over to Whitehall Historic House, a rare survivor of domestic architecture dating originally from the Tudor period, with Stuart and Victorian extensions, for a tour with one of their in-house experts.

We aim to end the day at 2pm, but the tours may run over.

*Please note that we will break for lunch from 12pm – 1pm. There are a number of other suitable options close to Whitehall Historic House, including the Ye Olde Red Lion Pub opposite on Park Road, which has indoor and outdoor seating, Wildwood Restaurant, plus a number of small restaurants and cafés. Lunch is not included in the ticket price.

Access Information: Please note that there are two steps down into Lumley Chapel. Whitehall Historic House’s ground floor and first floor galleries are accessible, and include a platform lift and two accessible toilets. The Café and patio in the Garden is also accessible through a ramp. The second floor is accessible through stairs only, but a virtual tour is available to visitors.

Cancellation policy: Refunds can be provided for cancellations 7 or more business days prior to the event.
