Home to the Archbishops of Canterbury for over 800 years, Grade I listed Lambeth Palace dates back to the 12th century. From the medieval Great Hall to later additions across the estate, it has long been at the heart of national religious life, hospitality and ministry.
This event will focus on the Palace’s ambitious sustainability transformation. Wright & Wright’s masterplan for Lambeth Palace has set a new benchmark for the retrofit of highly significant historic buildings, aligning the site with the General Synod’s commitment for all parts of the Church of England to work to carbon net-zero by 2030.
Learn about the Palace’s ambitious £40 million refurbishment, which combines accessibility, conservation, and environmental performance. The tour will also reflect on the practical challenges of delivering complex works within a live, occupied heritage site of international importance.
This event is ideal for architects, surveyors, heritage consultants, sustainability professionals, and those involved in retrofit or conservation projects, though open to all. This is a rare opportunity to hear first-hand how one of the UK’s most significant ecclesiastical buildings has been futureproofed for generations to come.
