Liz Power

Liz joined Historic Buildings & Places in 2023 after 25 years working in the museum sector. As Director, she provides the charity’s strategic leadership, working closely with the Board of Trustees. Liz has led the development of Future Lab, an ambitious initiative exploring the future for HB&P in partnership with Oxford University.

Liz is Chair of the Cultural Sector Environmental Sustainability Group and also chairs the Heritage Green Skills Group on behalf of Historic England. She is a member of the Joint Committee of the National Amenity Societies and represents the committee on the Historic Environment Forum, where she also sits on the steering group. Liz is an experienced Carbon Literacy and Carbon Accounting trainer, committed to helping heritage organisations embed sustainability into their work.

Outside of her professional roles, Liz also serves as a trustee of the Association of Independent Museums, supporting museums across the UK, a Squirrel Scouts leader, and plays the baritone horn (badly) in a brass band.
