THIS EVENT HAS NOW PASSED. YOU CAN STILL REGISTER FOR A TICKET AND RECEIVE THE RECORDING TO THE ONLINE TALK BELOW.

We welcome back our industrial casework officer Amber Patrick for a talk on the form and function of the malthouse.

In this talk Amber will argue that there have always been distinct patterns based on the need for an efficient and successful malting process. This is evident in early malthouse layouts and continued to apply throughout the industry’s history, even when, externally, malthouses were no longer recognisable as such. Despite being distinct, these designs curiously do not appear to be confined to specific regions but were generally widespread.

Amber is the author of The Buildings of the Malting Industry published in November 2023 by Historic England.

Tickets are free (with optional donation) for members and £4 for non-members.

If you missed the live talk, but would like to watch the recording, please purchase a ticket below and a link to the recording will be sent to you.
