Online Talk: HB&P Ecclesiastical Casework Review

Join us on Monday 25 January 2027 for an online talk with HB&P’s Ecclesiastical Caseworker, Matthew Saunders.

45% of Grade I listed buildings are historic churches – they are often the most impressive structure in the settlement and embody in their architecture, stained glass, monuments and furnishings the best that Man can create. Conserving this matchless legacy is one of HB&P’s great tasks.

How can historic places of worship adapt to meet changing needs while protecting the fabric and character that makes them special? And how can those that have closed be converted sensitively?

Join Historic Buildings & Places online for our Ecclesiastical Casework Review, with Matthew Saunders. Matthew will share insights into some of our recent casework, exploring how we support the sensitive and sustainable adaptation of historic places of worship which comes to us in our role as a statutory consultee.

Discover more about the challenges facing these important buildings, the approaches being taken to secure their future, and the role expert advice can play in finding solutions that respect their historic significance.

Whether you work in heritage, care for a place of worship, or simply want to learn more about how historic buildings can be sustained for future generations, this talk offers an opportunity to hear directly about our work and the issues it addresses.
We look forward to welcoming you!
